Next month’s one day conference will be big; October’s will be even bigger.
It’s technically only a one day event, but I suspect next month’s DOMAINfest Power Networking Day in New York City will draw a very sizable crowd. The event is being held right after Affiliate Summit, and both events are cross promoting each other. This, along with being in New York City, should result in big numbers.
I caught up with Oversee.net Head of Marketing Aaron Kvitek yesterday to find out how the company plans to build on its first Power Networking Day, held in Ft. Lauderdale in May. Kvitek told me they attracted a crowd of about 135 people at the first event (including Oversee.net’s own employees).
“That’s quite a few more than we thought would attend,” said Kvitek. “There was a last minute surge of local people who found room on their calendar.”
But it wasn’t just locals — the event attracted people from as far away as Texas and Connecticut. Perhaps it was a May trip to Florida that proved to be a draw. New York City should be an even bigger one.
The New York event will follow script similar to the Ft. Lauderdale one. In Florida, Oversee.net CEO Jeff Kupietsky gave a presentation followed by keynote speaker Jay Berkowitz, an SEO/SEM expert. Berkowitz took an audience member’s domain name and evaluated it, suggesting how it could gain more organic traffic and engage users when they arrived. Lunch was then followed by a networking event with industry experts, then a Moniker domain name auction.
The keynote hasn’t been announced for NYC, but the company hopes to announce it within the next two weeks.
Registration for DOMAINfest NYC is $195, and hotels are available at a discounted rate.
In addition to planning this event, the company is busy making plans for its next big show in Prague this October. Kvitek said they estimate 200-250 people for that show. But when pressed, he admits that he’s sandbagging that number a bit.
“If it’s any indication, it’s going to be positive,” Kvitek said about a recent surge in registrations from people taking advantage of an early bird discount.
My personal guess is 350 people or more. The company is pulling out all the stops for Prague, including hiring translators to help everyone from across the world communicate. The second day of the event will be social, including AK47 shooting, a Skoda road rally, and a spy game. But space for some of the social events is limited, so if you register for the conference early you get first pick.
I plan to attend both conferences.
