Four Five domain name sessions have been proposed for SXSW Interactive 2014. Voting ends September 6.
Voting for which panels will make the cut at next year’s SXSW Interactive conference is underway. I identified four five submissions this year that are related to the domain name industry. Voting ends September 6.
The Discussion’s Over – New Domains Are Here – Vote
Sedo’s Jeremiah Johnston hopes to return to SXSW for a third straight year to discuss new top level domain names.
This year his talk was titled “New Domains Have Landed – Now What!?” The title may be been a bit premature, but since you have to submit topics so early you can forgive Johnston for expecting new TLDs to have actually landed by last March.
ICANN Labs: An Open Innovation Engagement Platform – Vote
ICANN and its product development partner Neo have organized a discussion about its efforts to make bottom up, community-driven policy work.
Domain Name Brand Wars – A Policy Chat With ICANN – Vote
This panel is organized by Rob Kimmer of Rader, Fishman & Grauer. It’s a oddly worded submission, but apparently Kimmer has lined up Owen Smigelski, Sr. Manager of Contractual Compliance at ICANN, to participate.
Squatters and Imposters – Vote
The panel will cover both cybersquatting and social media account squatting. It will also provide strategies for people to fight back against overreaching claims against their domains and social media accounts.
The Rise of Socialanthropy – Vote
Public Interest Registry (.org, soon .ngo) is organizing this session that will explain how to organizations can use new TLDs to enhance their online presence.
