Five domain name stories you may have missed this week.
Sometimes it’s difficult to be at a conference and blog at the same time. So quite a few stories I wanted to write about this week are still in my “to do” box. Instead, here’s a summary of stories with links to other bloggers who’ve already covered them.
Go Daddy released its latest commercial. To my untrained eye it sure looks like it has just as much sex appeal as its previous ones. The only difference is it doesn’t suggest that you can see a woman take her clothes off if you visit GoDaddy.com.
A shoutout to Ammar Kubba and team for hitting their 10 year anniversary at Thought Convergence. Ten years is a lifetime in the domain industry. Thought Convergence has definitely had a big hand in shaping the domain industry over the past decade.
Oversee.net has hired a new CTO, Gene Chuang. Chuang comes from outside the domain name industry. He most recently worked at textbook rental company Chegg, but also had stints at Yahoo in its search marketing division and at AT&T.
Afternic has struck a deal with DNBiz. If the name sounds familiar to those outside China, it’s probably because Moniker/Snapnames recently announced a deal with them as well.
Domain name suggestion engine DomainsBot has released a developer API.
