Domain for sale on Sedo gets lots of traffic looking for blogging site.
An auction for a typo of popular blogging platform Tumblr.com closes tomorrow, and it currently has a bid of 15,000 GBP (about $24,000 USD).
The domain Tubmlr.com switches the b and the m. According to the sales listing page on Sedo it gets close to 8,000 visits per month, obviously due to its similarity to the blogging service.
There’s only one bidder on the domain, and it’s possible that it’s Tumblr, Inc. itself.
Of course the best “typo” is the correct spelling — Tumbler.com. Tumbler.com is owned by Tervis, maker of Tervis Tumbler drinkware. You can bet it gets quite a bit of confused visitors, although I doubt many of them turn into sales.

When you compare the compete.com results for the correctly spelled tumbler.com, it’s quite surprising that it’s such a relatively low result,ie. about 18M for tumblr.com and only about 8K for tumbler.com, a difference of 2,250X.

Can’t wait to see how fast a third party buyer gets sued. Tumblr is trademarked.

nice sale!. 🙂 i own a similar typo domain TUMLR.com
I have declined numerous 5 digits offer from various domainers and still waiting the best offer *hint 🙂
I used to park it on parked.com and received quite a substantial per day traffic and actual backlinks from mistyped URLs. I al loolking for another domain parking partner to park it while waiting for the right offer.
Guys, in your opinion, how much would i sell TUMLR.com?
Andrew Allemann says
@ Alex B. – I’d say the value is about -100,000 about now…

I have Tumbnlr.com for sale right now, and will be selling it sometime this
week on Sedo. It gets a holy ton of traffic, but i am not really into the typo business per say. If anyone wishes to bid contact me to make an offer.
the ASKING range is between $500-1,000 USD and because of the traffic
it may be worth 10x that amount.
Thanks,
Jon
