Conference for the web hosting industry invades San Diego.
HostingCon kicked off yesterday in San Diego, bringing together the web hosting industry and its many related service providers.
I arrived late in the morning and caught the last ten minutes of a talk from OpenSRS’ Adam Eisner titled “What do New TLDs Mean for your Hosting Business”. Some members of the audience wondered if their clients would want them to acquire their brand names for all the new TLDs, how they’ll manage the many so many registry contracts, and if there were any “home run” TLDs they should consider offering to their clients. You can see the slides here.
A number of domain name companies are attending and or exhibiting at the conference: Moniker, Dot.tk, Neustar, OpenSRS/Tucows, VeriSign, eNom, NameMedia, Afilias, LogicBoxes, and ResellerClub. I’m here representing Skenzo. The exhibit hall is open Tuesday and Wednesday.

Andrew,
How long are you going to be in town for? The weather has been a bit cool this week, but if your hanging around, I’d love to grab a cocktail and finally meet you.
